On the Road

Howdy, everyone.

I have been wanting to put something up here for the past 4 days, but I have been in the most rural places where I had no access to the internet. My cell phone didn't even work. I'm at a Super 8 with wireless so I'll put something up quick.

I am thankful for the opportunity to share with people out here in South Dakota; Menno, Harrison, Platte, and New Holland. They are wonderful people who are excited to hear what is happening in missions around the world and at home. We had some small twisters touch down on Sunday morning in Menno and just about didn't have church. There was debris everywhere. The power was out, but it came on again halfway through a window lit service.

Many of the folks in these communities are aging. Their farms are shrinking and children are moving away. In short, the churches are shrinking. Some will probably close within the next 10 years or so. But, none-the-less, they prayerfully and financially support missions.

Hey, I had a chance to do some milking on the farm where I was staying. On Sunday evening, I put on some old clothes my hosts provided and went out to help with chores and milking in the parlor. It was great -- just like to old days. I've always enjoyed the farm and all its smells. And I still remembered what I was doing. They asked me to stay as a hired hand :-) .

I have been touring with a missionary and his Ugandan wife who are with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee serving in Uganda. Another fellow along is a very outspoken, fun-loving pastor who served 14 years in Japan. He has the craziest presentation with a toilet paper gun, slides and crazy stories about the high-tech Japanese toilets. It's hilarious.

Anyway, it is getting time to head to the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa to do some presentations and meet with people. After that, we head to Parkersburg, Iowa.

I have been sharing a lot about what God is doing at Abundant Life Church and have been encouraging people to prayerfully and financially support our ministry. Pray that God would use this time to challenge people to give to the ministry.

I fly home on Thursday night. See you all soon.

AKD.
