Falling in Love

So I'm driving into Fruita last Friday night with my lovely wife to get some dinner at the new Fruita Brewing Company and then take in Nate's play, Little Shop of Horrors, when I sense something.....
.... You see I had been praying for months and silently while we were driving. As we came into town I felt an overwhelming sense of love for this community. I really care about what happens in Fruita; for the people there, to the people. And tonight as we satand prayed in the central park in the Fruita circle, I was overwhelmed with the pain that God must feel for all those who do not know him. I found myself weeping on the way home.

I attribute this all to prayer and the movement of the Holy Spirit in my life. It seems the more one prays the more we are open to God's heart -- we begin to see people as he sees them. We can see clearer as our eyes are opened through prayer.

Acts 1:14 "They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers."
Acts 14:23 "Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust."

Romans 12:12 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. "
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Pastor Alan,
Bert here. Good message. It amazes me how many people know about the Lord but have never come to have a personal relationship with him. I cannot even begin to thank God for all he has done for us. All of them things that we don't deserve and can never earn.

My oldest daughter Katelyn had a great idea and I thought I might just throw it your way and see what you think. Since it's yard sale season, she came up with the idea of having a yard sale with all of the proceeds going to the church to help with the move to the new building in Fruita.

I don't know how hard it would be to petition the membership and see what "stuff" people might have laying around that they would want to contribute. We would be willing to host it and do as much legwork as possible getting stuff to our house. Bigger items would need some assistance.

Just curious about your thoughts on this. Maybe we could put something together towards the end of this month.

God Bless You and Yours,

Bert Hughes
